The NYPD isn’t “perfect” — but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t get 1,000 more cops, City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito said Friday.


Mark-Viverito, speaking at the New York Law School legislative breakfast, said that reform and resources aren’t “mutually exclusive.”


“Definitely reform is needed,” she said in response to a question from an audience member who said more cops could lead to “more tragedies” like the death of Eric Garner.


“Community policing needs more resources, not less,” the speaker said.

Attacker in robbery of Bronx man, 65, held on Rikers Island


The NYPD is seeking the public's assistance in locating and identifying the following individuals wanted in connection to a robbery within the confines of the 42 Precinct in the Bronx. The circumstances are as follows:

One of the attackers caught on videotaple robbing a 65-year-old Bronx man at gunpoint is being held on Rikers Island.
