Recently Jay Z was vilified for wearing The Universal Flag Of The Nation Of God's And Earths at a Brooklyn Nets game. Most New York newspapers ran the story last week, and most of them were saying the same things. Until now many of the mainstream news outlets have had lots to say about the symbol and the group it represents. Even Sean Hannity of Fox news found it necessary to commit time on his television program to the subject of Jay Z and the Nation Of Gods And Earths. He said "The New York Post summed up what the emblem symbolizes", as if The New York Post is an authority on black consciousness.
Most of the people speaking about the Nation Of Gods And Earths don't know much about the organization or the philosophy of it. Sean Hannity had Michael Myers of The New York Civil Rights Coalition and Fox News Contributer David Webb on his program neither of which understand the perspective of the organization. David Webb said "it's a made up construct by disaffected blacks" and even went a step further and disparaged Kwanzaa. He's saying The Nation Of Gods And Earths and Kwanzaa are man made and thus illegitimate. Every organization and holiday are man made, so they would all be illegitimate if you use his "logic". Michael Myers called it a "religion" that's racist and hateful. It is neither religious or hateful.
David Webb goes further to mis-characterize The Nation Of Gods And Earths as a gang, which is completely false. Michael Myers then crosses the line even further when he mentioned Dr. Leonard Jeffries and basically wrote him off as crazy. The underlying message here says If you can't buy an Uncle Tom Negro you can always rent one for cheap. It figures Sean Hannity you have two black men on his program that share his view. The Fox News always seems to look for black people that are willing to take a swipe at other black people and have public feuds for the world to see
It's never good to attack and denigrate an organization or group without letting them speak for themselves. Up to now the corporate media and the white owned press have put out plenty of false information about The Nation Of Gods And Earths. All of the reports on them from the mainstream media has been negative, with no one shining any positive light on them. Listen to Born King of The Nation Of Gods And Earths speak from the perspective and philosophy of the group about the attacks.
