New York City Schools Are The Most Segregated In The Nation: New York is said to be a microcosm of the entire country because it is deemed to be such a melting pot of nationalities and culture. However, according to a recent study New York has the most segregated public schools in the nation. Some say charter schools are to blame, but charter schools only serve 6% of all children in New York. In 2014 one might expect the most segregated schools to be found in red states not in a so-called progressive/liberal blue state like New York. However, economic inequality normally follow racial lines. The schools with the most black students always seem to be under served and under funded. Schools with a majority white student body don't face the same budgetary and financial constraints.
