"On My Gonzales" is Atlanta-based mc/lyrical alchemist/DOOM affiliate staHHr's latest video from her "Mother Nature with a Molotov: Molotov Season" album. Joined by lyrical heavyweights John Robinson (Scienz of Life) and Ekundayo (L.I.U.N.S. Den), the trio lace this Floyd the Locsmif track with clever wordplay, smooth delivery and quotables for days. The title of the song comes from a line in staHHr's verse, where she coins the phrase "on my Gonzales" in reference to one "being focused, handling biz, doing their job, etc". Director Nick Burnz interweaves elements of "Golden Era" Hip-Hop with live performance footage, playing off of the organic energy of the song and the undeniable and familial chemistry of StaHHr, JR and Ekundayo.
John Robinson made the trip from NYC to immortalize the energy that catalyzed the album with this visual (the first song recorded for Molotov Season), and had this to say: "It was great to link with my ATL fam StaHHr and Ekundayo on this one! This is real deal fam biz. I have been rhyming with both of them in the trenches of the ATL scene since early 2000's and we are still here holding the Hip-Hop culture up strong. We gotta keep it moving swiftly...Always on our Gonzales yo! ZOOOOOOOM!"
